Wonder Funders

Our Wonder Funders act as play sites for young children in hard-to-reach communities across Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties in South Carolina, offering free or low-cost access to children who might not otherwise ever be able to enjoy the Lowcountry's world-class museums, natural attractions, theatres, historical sites, and the like.

Through the generosity of these wonderful partners, hundreds of young children, parents, and early educators are discovering our area's rich cultural and natural history, expanding early learning concepts, deepening interests, and connecting their natural curiosity to the world around them. At these play sites, what these young children read and hear about come alive around them!

Our Wonder Funders not only enjoy the satisfaction of knowing they are making a difference to vulnerable young children in underserved populations, but reap firsthand access to hundreds of families and educators of all backgrounds and interests, early public awareness of their institutions that will last a lifetime, and promotion of their sites across multiple online, social, and traditional channels and audiences, leading to the potential for increased attendance and membership now and in the future.

RAISE YOUR HAND

​Our Wonder Funders also provide early educators throughout the Lowcountry free or low-cost access to annual professional development opportunities on their grounds and in their facilities. These unique place-based sessions offer members of the early childhood workforce, who themselves are often economically disadvantaged, the opportunity to embed South Carolina's Early Learning Standards not only into their preschools and child care centers, but into field trips for the children in their care... helping them to ensure each child is ready for kindergarten and a lifetime of learning and success.
